There are some great horse breeds around the world that are known. Like the Thoroughbred, the Mongolian wild horse and the Arabian Asil. However, there are some Iranian horse breeds that are native to Iran that no one knows anything about. Some of these Iranian horse breeds have been living with us in this part of the world for thousands of years, so lets talk about what they are and where they originate from. This is because we want to read about horses of Iran and learn English as well.
Excavations throughout Iran have shown that Iranians and their horses have been living together for around 5,000 years. Since then our needs for horses have drastically changed but after 5 thousand years one thing has remained unchanged. The most amazing factor that connects us Iranians with our horses is our culture. In fact, we draw our identity from our relationship with these magestic animals. This can be seen in the names we have given to Iranian horse breeds. For example, the Bakhtiari horse clearly comes from one specific area of the Iranian plateau. This area is in the east, through the Zagros Mountains, where the Bakhtiari tribes have called home since the time of Persians.
So lets look at some of these Iranian horse breeds a little closer. The first breed is known as the Caspian horse. This horse is native to the Caspian region of Iran, to the north and right by the sea. This is one of the oldest breeds of horses in the world and has lived in Iran for over 3,000 years. In fact, it predates the Arabian Asil and represents old blood linking early horses to the new breeds. The second breed is the Tchenarani, which is a very rare breed that was developed by Iranians about 2,000 years ago. This breed is a mix between Arabian and Turkoman horses. Darashouri is the third horse breed and native to the province of Fars. A forth kind of breed is called the Bakhtiari. This horse is native to the Khuzestan region and belongs to the Bakhtiari tribes living in the area for thousands of years.
